The Moral Battlefield Workshop
Ethics, War, and the IDF
Service Description
Since October 7th, 2023, Israel and the IDF have been confronting threats on many fronts. One of the most challenging battles today is taking place on the American college campus. Recently, young Jews have been forced to combat anti-Semitic sentiments, challenge hostile student groups, and endure threats to their safety. One topic that consistently appears in these environments is Israel’s conduct throughout the ongoing war. This program is designed to engage young diaspora Jews in a thought-provoking discussion about the complexities of morality in war, the ethical standards upheld by the IDF, and investigating the misconceptions regarding Israel’s military actions. As an IDF soldier who served in Gaza Iron Swords, I use examples from history, personal anecdotes, and real-world scenarios giving participants a unique, nuanced understanding of the conflict. Armed with this knowledge, participants will become more confident leaders on their campus and in their communities, strengthening the next generation of ModernMaccabis.
